Dating back to the 1960s, Spring Creek Holiday Park was purchased in early 2026 by experienced holiday park owner, Steve Edwards. He and the team – including managers Greg and Rhi – look forward to welcoming visitors to share in this new chapter.

Our location

The park is in a pretty riverside spot just 7km (five minutes’ drive) from Blenheim, 20km (15 minutes’ drive) from Picton. Right on the new Whale Trail and close to world-class wineries, it’s a great base for exploring beautiful Marlborough and a peaceful, convenient spot for an overnight stop.

The Spring Creek Holiday Park story

The original Redwood Homestead at the start of the 20th century.

The land here was once a wheat farm established in 1850 by Francis Longbourne Vickerman, a British émigré who also doubled as a surgeon and government health officer. He had the main house and water mill built in 1863, the same year that the bunya bunya tree on the front lawn was planted. Now more than 160 years old, the tree is one of park’s most beloved features and produces pine cones that can weigh as much as 10 kilograms!

Vickerman sold the property in 1870, although the mill continued to operate up to 1905.

Spring Creek Holiday Park was established in the 1960s, at which time the original homestead was converted into accommodation.

New owner Steve Edwards, along with managers Greg and Rhi, are very excited about the future of the park. There are many improvements in the pipeline, including renovations to the kitchens and bathrooms, building a new swimming pool and additional riverside apartments, plus developing outdoor cooking areas and attractive landscaping to make the most of the beautiful setting – and Marlborough’s friendly climate, of course!

Meanwhile, Steve and the team will keep doing what they do best – delivering great stays, championing local business and attractions, and looking after people so they have the best holiday possible and make Memories for Life™.
